New York City's Leader in Urban Science

CUSP RCF (Research Computing Facility)

CUSP RCF has been developed to be a shared resource for CUSP researchers/faculty, CUSP students, NYC agencies, and citizens interested in using data in a secure environment for urban research and policy. It is a Safe Data Environment providing a suite of powerful tools and services, so researchers can collaboratively work in a seamless and reproducible manner, while at the same time protecting data privacy. Researchers have full control of their data and workspace and, as data providers, have responsibility for their own data privacy and confidentiality. They are required, however, to follow the data policies baseline recommended and required by NYU research environment policies and data governance (https://www.nyu.edu/about/policies-guidelines-compliance/policies-and-guidelines/data-and-computer-security-policy.html).

CUSP RCF is a perfect environment to host students' assignments, group projects and the Capstone Project. For reasons mentioned above, each capstone group will share a project workspace and run code against the project data using all tools and platforms available.

Each CUSP potential user should register and have a CUSP ID .  Note that the CUSP ID is the same as NETID if you are part of NYU or a preferred username if you are a collaborator. The password is different from the NYU password for people with NETID.
For those of you who want to get a CUSP account, please provide the following and send them to cusp.it@nyu.edu
Full name :
Email address:
NETID or preferred username if there is no NETID
CUSP sponsor:

For Capstone sponsor and team leader:
Send the following info in addition to the above
-   Project lead
-  The names of all collaborators on the given project
-   Project name
-  Data size and anticipated data size in the future

RCF dashboard (click)

The RCF dashboard allows CUSP users to access resources available like large servers (linux and windows). Jupyterhub applications, VMs etc…

Users can access directly to the applications or login via gateway to access to ssh sessions as well as remote desktop sessions (RDP) on multitude of servers , VMs, clusters.

ssh sessions and RDP sessions are assigned to users based on  authorization following project requirements (for more info contact cusp.it)

UO dashboard (click)

The UO environment is under construction and initial deployment.

The UO dashboard allows access to UO dedicated resources (servers,  jupyterhub application, camera , data collections etc..)

The UO environment access is restricted and requires approval from CUSP management
